EPA Announces $3.5 Million in Grant Funding to Help Tribes Restore/Protect Waterbodies

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is seeking applications from Tribes for $3.5 million in new competitive grant funding under Clean Water Act Section 319. Funding from the agency’s 319 grant program helps improve water quality in local waterbodies by reducing nonpoint source pollution—contaminants that can be carried from urban, suburban, and rural landscapes and deposited into waterways. NHTSA Offers $20 Million in Grant Funding for Innovative Traffic Safety Programs
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced a new ITSE grant program that is seeking applicants who can develop, demonstrate, and evaluate new, innovative traffic safety enforcement projects or innovative enhancements to existing countermeasures that address risky driving behaviors contributing to the greatest number of crashes. The Federal Highway Administration’s Bridge Investment Program is a competitive, discretionary program that focuses on reducing the number of bridges in poor condition, or in fair condition that are at risk of falling into poor condition. Roadway Departure Safety Action Plan –
Local Call for Projects

The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) in coordination with the New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC) is pleased to progress the local call for roadway departure projects included in the New York State Roadway Departure Safety Action Plan (RwDSAP). This local call for projects includes federal Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) funds for systemic or “Hot Spot” roadway departure safety projects on local and county roads and streets. Projects would be eligible to receive up to 95% federal HSIP funding. Potential project sponsors are encouraged to review the RwDSAP to enhance their understanding of the program.

Applications must be submitted by close of business on April 17, 2026.
Final award decisions are expected to be made by the end of May 2026.
All counties/municipalities are encouraged to submit projects to this
