Advisory and Working Groups allow stakeholders and the public to get involved with NYMTC in specific areas of interest.
Critical to the SAWG members is assuring that safety planning is considered in NYMTC’s metropolitan transportation planning process. To that end, a new safety goal was included in NYMTC’s Plan 2040: to enhance the safety and security of the transportation planning system for both motorized and non-motorized users. Contact Sherry Southe at 631.952.2080 for more information.
Enhancing Safety
NYMTC and its member agencies seek to go beyond the fulfillment of federal safety requirements to work constantly to ensure the overall safety of highway infrastructure and transit systems. SAWG members meet regularly for hands on safety training.
